Sublimation Printer VS Inkjet Printer, Which One Is Better?

What’s the difference between a sublimation printer and an inkjet printer?

1. Dye sublimation printer technology is developed to improve the quality of output photos, and it has obvious advantages in photo output speed and tone continuity.

2. The use of inkjet printers is more extensive, which can realize the flexible output of various formats, and at the same time, the types of media are very rich, which can meet the various sublimation printing needs of users.

3. In terms of printing quality, the thermal sublimation printer does not have the problem of ink droplet diffusion, and the precision of the dye sublimation printer 300dpi is almost equivalent to the effect of the inkjet printer 4800dpi. Moreover, it adjusts different temperatures through each semiconductor element on the ribbon and can combine the proportion and shade of color to achieve a continuous-tone color photo effect. As far as the printing effect is concerned, the images printed by sublimation printers are vivid in color, and their productivity is stronger than that of ordinary household inkjet printers.

4. The cost of photo printing, the price of dye-sublimation photo printers is relatively high, plus the cost of consumables and photo paper, the cost of each photo is one of the more expensive types of photo printing at present.

5. The output cost will be affected by inkjet printers due to different consumables, different types of ink, and even the content of the printed image, which is difficult to estimate. In addition, due to the small size of the portable inkjet printer, the capacity of its ink cartridge is also smaller, so its printing cost is higher than that of the desktop printer.

6. The dye sublimation printer has a unique coating function. Sublimation printers are mainly used to print photos. After coating the photos, the overall color will be brighter and brighter. It has the characteristics of anti-oxidative discoloration, waterproof, anti-fingerprint, and not easy to fade after long-term storage. Photos made from inkjet printers are much longer lasting.

What is the difference between thermal sublimation printer ink and inkjet printer ink?

1. Different natures

Thermal sublimation printer inks are mainly used to heat transfer printed products. Sublimation ink is a printing process in which sublimation thermal transfer ink is transferred to fabric through transfer paper.

2. Different characteristics

1. Features of thermal transfer ink: It is printed with pigment ink, even if it is printed on ordinary paper, it will not smear. As the pigment itself is waterproof, it is not easy to be decomposed by ultraviolet rays, so it has the characteristics of water resistance and light resistance, even for outdoor use, sublimation prints can also last for more than a year with no visible signs of fading.

2. Features of sublimation printer ink: The printed pattern is rich in layers, bright in color, small in color difference, and good in reproducibility. The image will not peel, crack or fade, and is durable and sun-resistant, so sublimation printers for heat transfer have many benefits. They can achieve the effect required by the designer, and is suitable for mass production; the sublimation transfer printing process transfers the exquisite pattern on the transfer film to the surface of products through one-time processing of the sublimation heat transfer, and the sublimation ink layer and the surface of the product are melted into one after molding, which greatly improves the quality of the products.

Thermal transfer inks are mainly produced in the United States and South Korea. American sublimation inks and Korean sublimation printer inks have bright colors, and the patterns printed on paper by American and Korean thermal transfer inks are light and clear. After thermal transfer by sublimation inkjet printers, the image is clear and the color recovery is high. This is also the advantage of imported sublimation inks. Most of China's thermal transfer ink manufacturers are concentrated in southern China. Although the price is much cheaper than that of American thermal transfer inks and South Korean thermal transfer inks, domestic sublimation inks have darker colors and higher paper colors. After transfer, color recovery is poor. Due to the high density of the sublimation ink, it is easy to block the nozzle of the printer, and the imported thermal transfer ink can avoid this phenomenon.
